I used found images that I edited together to show the juxtaposition between the concentration camps and how cattle are treated in North American Feed lots. It was important to use Hershaft discussion as he had firsthand experience of both situations and there for qualified to speak on both perspectives. The way Jewish people were treated by the Nazis was horrendous, they were rounded up and transported in cattle cars with no room to move or breath. Cattle are treated the same way every day and this is viewed as a normative practice. The video was created to show the link between people and animals, and how every sentient being feels pain and suffering. Each year 9 billion chickens are slaughtered in factory farms, after being raised in horrifying conditions. 9 million Syrians have fled Syria since 2011, many live in small cramped tent cities with no food or clean water. Others die trying to flee to countries that may not except them. The way that many of these people have been treated is horrific and similar to the way we disregard a chickens life. The way the refugees have been treated as if their lives are meaningless is the same way the industry treats chickens. Many in society have over looked the severity of both these situations; the video juxtaposes refugees with chickens both in extremely devastating conditions in order to show how similar both groups are being treated. This video was created to bring awareness to the tragedy that the refugees are facing and the utter disregard that people have towards the meat on their plate. Human beings can be so cruel, we have committed so many atrocities to each other as well as the creatures around us. Like the horrors that occurred in Nanking many are unaware of the horrific ways that North America treats the animals involved in the meat industries. It is my hopes that through this video people can start to understand the terrifying conditions these animals must endure only to be sent to their untimely demise.
